Material Handling System Increases Production and Saves Time

HE&M Saw ’s Material Handling System is a system that offers a full range of material handling capabilities. These systems are powerful, rugged tools handling heavy structural material, all controlled by the operator from a conveniently located console. This system can be utilized with various HE&M Saw models (V120 and up, H130 Horizontal Pivot and up, all Dual-Column saws, and all Wide Flange saws).
An increase in production and the ability to handle big loads efficiently are the key points of this handling system. Without a handling system, materials have to be held with the use of cranes and/or fork lifts and the personnel to operate them in order to enter material into the saw. This is time consuming because material handling time can sometimes exceed cutting time. The HE&M Saw Material Handling System uses a cross transfer truck system to hold the material until it is ready to be fed into the saw. Each truck can hold up to 5,000 lbs. From there the material can be positioned onto tables. Hydraulically powered rollers move the material into the saw. While the material is being cut, the next piece of material can be loaded onto the cross transfer trucks.
HE&M Saw ’s Material Handling System has a modular design that provides convenient walk-through areas. This is one of the major differences between HE&M Saw's system and other systems. This feature allows the operator to walk between sections of the tables for ease of monitoring the material, saving valuable time.
The saw has bi-directional vises and top clamps that allow bundled and imperfect material to pass. The discharge vise is capable of going under
the blade to grab the last cut part. The chip conveyor is designed to handle trim cut ends that are less than 10 " long and drop them into a chip bin, separated from coolant. The entire system is coolant panned allowing the system to capture coolant, avoiding spills and overflow which is unsightly, dangerous, and environmentally unsound. Once the material is on the discharge side it then can be moved to a cross transfer truck system ready for shipping. Saving time and increasing the production rate, HE&M Saw ’s Material Handling System is definitely a cost saving addition for a growing business.
