The Angle Makes Us Straight!

1998 WF130A Shown

Pryor, Oklahoma

Following on the heels of the popular WF190 Series “fab saw” comes the mid-sized WF130HA-DC.

This new band saw has a maximum cutting capacity of 18 inches high by 27 inches wide and is powered by a ten horsepower motor.  The 1.5” blade has a 9° attack angle, which is designed to reduce problems associated with cutting rectangular tubing and wide flange material.

This high blade angle allows the blade to penetrate through a more uniform cross section.  The blade is never engaged in the full width of the material.  “This ultimately makes the blade perform better, cut faster, and more economically,” says HE&M Saw President Jerry Harris.

9 Degree tilt “makes the blade perform better, cut faster and more economically“  It has always been difficult to cut large H beams because internal stresses in the material will often pinch the blade as it goes through the web,” Harris said.  But with the 9° blade angle, less blade is actually in the cut, substantially reducing the pinch problem.

Another advantage is a reduction in blade damage caused from “punch through” when the blade exits the cut.  On a standard horizontal band saw cutting wide flange or large rectangular tubing, the blade may be engaged in the full width of the material.  Because of the forces applied to the blade the blade will actually bow, or arc upwards.

As the blade starts to exit the cut, it will break through on each side, and then suddenly the blade will punch through the center of the material, often causing tooth damage.  The WF Series saws completely eliminate blade damage caused from punch through because of the 9° blade angle.

Because the blade runs through a more uniform cross section, selecting the correct tooth pitch is also made easier. The high attack angle also makes it much easier to cut bundles of any type of material.

The current line of WF Series saws includes the WF130HA-DC and the WF190, WF190L, and WF190XL.  The “L” has a capacity of 25” by 44” and the “XL” stretches out to 25” high by 50” flat.

Standard features on the automatic WF saws include 72 inch bar feeds and bi-directional vises.  The bi-directional vising retracts on both sides of the material to eliminate vise hang-ups caused by bowed or crooked material.

Options for the WF-Series HE&M Saws include automatic chip conveyors, shadow lights, full capacity top clamps, outboard & discharge vising and many other options all designed to increase efficiency and reduce the cost of cutting.

Coming soon to the HE&M line will be the WF160 which will have a 25” x 30” capacity.  The WF saws like all HE&M Saws, are designed and manufactured in America, at the company’s headquarters in Pryor, Oklahoma.

Automatic is designed to save maintenance costs by using several common parts readily available in local parts stores.
