This November, we’re shining the spotlight on someone who’s been a vital part of HE&M Saw for decades: Johnny Nixon, our experienced Field Service Technician who takes on some of the most specialized and challenging projects across the country. If you ask him, though, he prefers the title “Super Tech”, and honestly, we can’t argue with it!

Johnny's journey with HE&M began nearly 30 years ago, when he came in to take a weld test... but the test never happened. Instead, he was placed in the Assembly Department, and he’s been with us ever since.

He spent 20 years in assembly, gaining deep knowledge of how our machines are built and how all the systems work together. That foundation made him a natural fit for his current role in Field Service, where he now travels the U.S. working on special projects—everything from custom machines to personalized material handling systems. If it’s unique, complex, and needs to be done right, Johnny’s usually the guy on the job.

When asked what he enjoys most, Johnny says it’s the element of surprise because no two days are the same, and every project brings something new to the table. “Oh, and the people are great,” he adds. He genuinely enjoys working alongside his team, even if he’s not the type to make a big deal about it.

Johnny is most proud of the broad knowledge he’s gained over the years and being able to understand a wide range of machines and how they operate together. He also values the relationships he’s built, both with coworkers in the shop and with customers in the field.

Something many may not know: Johnny was once accepted to Full Sail University for sound engineering. But life took a different run. He’s proud of where his path led him—and grateful for the support HE&M offered along the way.

Outside of work, Johnny’s focus is on family. He loves making sure those around him are taken care of, especially his grandchildren. Much of his free time is spent at the ball fields and basketball courts, cheering them on and staying involved.

Johnny’s steady presence, knowledge, and willingness to tackle whatever comes his way have made a lasting impact. “Super Tech” might be a nickname, but it’s one that fits him well!
